What's new on Cancer Care Map this week

It's been another busy week in the Cancer Care Map office and we now have over 615 organisations listed across the UK. As well as local support services there are also many national organisations, helplines and online support information available that can offer a lifeline wherever you are in the country. Here are just a few offering help and support to those living with cancer in the UK today.

Look Good Feel Better offer workshops at centres up and down the country which help women and teenagers manage the visible side effects of cancer treatment.  Led by LGFB Beauty Volunteers, the sessions are an opportunity to meet others in a similar situation whilst being taught vital skills such as how to draw on missing eyebrows and eyelashes.

Another organisation helping women is Younger Women Together which holds events that provide information and support women aged up to 45 who have been diagnosed with primary breast cancer. The events are held thoughout the year where women from different backgrounds can come together to connect and discuss their personal journeys. Sessions cover subjects such as family, fertility, career and sexuality.

Someone Like Me is another initiative run by Breast Cancer Care and is a one-to-one peer support service that pairs a patient, friend or family member with a trained volunteer with similar experience. People are carefully matched for a variety of factors, including their treatments, personal circumstances, priorities and concerns.
