What’s new on Cancer Care Map this week: 5k Your Way and more

 
 

With 1074 cancer care services on the map at the time of writing, we’re well past that 1000 local and national services milestone.  Even so, we’re still buzzing from it.  But onwards and upwards, and here’s to celebrating 1250 cancer support providers soon.  No pressure!!

Meanwhile, here’s a quick look at some of the lovely care providers we’ve added to the map recently.  

5K your way is a cancer support group with a difference.  It’s a free running group aimed at people living with or beyond cancer, including friends, families, carers and healthcare professionals. You can run jog or walk your way through 5k. It runs the last Saturday of every month and there are locations all over the country, usually alongside a local parkrun.  Pop your postcode into the Cancer Care Map search and see where your nearest one is.

We’ve also recently added The Swallows Head and Neck Cancer Group which offers a 24/7 national help line and face to face support groups in the North West and Midlands areas.  There’s plenty of information and advice, as well as ways to get involved, in on their website.

Finally, have a look at Over The Wall, a national charity that supports children and young people facing serious health challenges through residential camps in communities across the UK.  Their free, therapeutic recreation camps help to develop the confidence, self-esteem, coping strategies and relationships of our campers. We’ve listed a number of family and sibling camps that taking place in 2020, in the south of England, the Midlands and Scotland.
