Charity providing a range of befriending services including a telephone service providing companionship and support to housebound older people living alone in the community. The service matches the older person with a carefully selected volunteer who agrees to call regularly, usually once a week. It also offers a keeping in touch service that provides regular monitoring calls throughout the year to older people with more limited social contacts. These calls provide friendship and the opportunity to raise any questions or concerns the older person may have. There is also extreme weather support that offers one-off help with shopping, prescription collection, and other small tasks. There is also day clubs throughout York.
