Cancer Support Services in Nottingham | Spotlight

There are over 6,000 local and national support services listed across the UK on Cancer Care Map. Today we’re spotlighting some of the cancer support services available in and around Nottingham. 

PASIC

PASIC provides emotional, social and practical support to families of children and young people with cancer living in the East Midlands to improve the quality of their lives. They support the whole family and offer the means to build support networks and reduce isolation to help make a positive difference to families. Services included organising social support, organising grants and special day outs for families.

When You Wish Upon a Star

When You Wish Upon a Star has a simple mission, to grant the Wishes of children living with a life threatening illness. They also organise magical day outs and trips. Their Wishes have the power to transform the lives of the children and families they work with and since 1990 they have proudly granted over 17,500 Wishes across the UK. Cancer Rehabilitation and Exercise (CARE) Programme

Group based exercise initiative for adults aged 18 and above living with or beyond cancer. It offers 12 free sessions of guided physical activity. On Mondays at The Portland Centre, Nottingham, 10.30am to 12pm (also Fridays 12.30pm to 2pm), on Wednesdays in Newark, 12.30pm to 1.45pm, and Thursdays at Mansfield, 1pm to 2.30pm. Participants also receive a three month all access free membership to the Portland Centre. Self refer or get a health care professional to refer you.

Nottingham Prostate Cancer Support Group 

Support group for people living with prostate cancer. The group is an opportunity to share experiences, get information, advice and to meet others in a similar situation. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of every other month, online or in person at convenient locations in Nottingham.

East Midlands Kidney Cancer Support Group 

Support group for people living with kidney cancer in the East Midlands and their loved ones and carers, from Kidney Cancer UK. Some meet ups are online, others in person. Contact for more information and meeting dates.

Carers Hub Service

Service for unpaid carers offering information, advice and emotional and practical help. It aims to give carers the chance to meet other carers through support groups, and helps them to reduce isolation and loneliness and to access the help and support they need.
