Cancer Support Services in Brighton | Spotlight

There are over 6,000 local and national support services listed across the UK on Cancer Care Map. Today we’re spotlighting some of the cancer support services available in and around Brighton.

 

 

Macmillan Horizon Cancer

A calm, friendly and welcoming place offering support so people affected by cancer in Sussex can still live their life. It provides psychological and emotional support though counselling services and complementary therapies in person, online or by phone. The centre is still open during the current lockdown, but therapies and group activities are suspended. They have however created a comprehensive package of online and phone support for during the pandemic.

Breast Cancer Support Group Sussex

Charity for people living with or beyond breast cancer. Group meetings are held on the third Monday of the month, 6.15pm to 8.15pm. Guest speakers speak on a range of cancer related topics. It also offers activities and complementary therapies such as reiki, yoga, dance, tai chi and massage.

Brighton Leukemia MPN and MDS Support Group 

Support group for people living with leukaemia, Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPN) and Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS), their loved ones and carers. Meet others in-person with shared experiences.

BRCA Brighton Support Group

Support group providing help to women living with or beyond breast or ovarian cancer who are also carriers of the BRCA 1 or BRCA 2 gene. Meeting in person on the first Thursday of every alternate month from 6.30pm to 8.45pm, with guest speakers, mainly from the medical profession. Members also support each other via their private Facebook page.

Cruse Bereavement Brighton and Hove

A nationwide charity with a centre in Brighton that provides support to those who have been bereaved. Services are free of charge and include confidential one to one meeting, telephone support and email support for people of all ages and no matter when you were bereaved.

Ronald MacDonald Brighton House 

Charity providing free accommodation for families with a child receiving treatment at Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and the Trevor Mann Baby Unit. The service offers bedrooms, shared facilities and a supportive environment so families can stay close to their child’s care. To stay in this Ronald McDonald House, you must first ask the hospital to refer you.
