Cancer Support Services in Liverpool | Spotlight

There are over 6,000 local and national support services listed across the UK on Cancer Care Map. Today we’re spotlighting some of the cancer support services available in and around Liverpool.

 

 

Sefton Support Group

Charity improving individual health outcomes by providing bespoke support to the wellbeing of its members and the community. It addresses social isolation, lack of family and friendship networks, and specific support needs for various health conditions. Services include therapeutic interventions, counselling and comprehensive referrals and signposting

LARKS by The Marina Dalglish Appeal – breast cancer support centre

Charity providing support to women living with breast cancer and their families. Services include reiki, reflexology and treatments to help ease the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Additionally, hair and nail treatments are offered, along with an opportunity to share experiences with women in similar situations. For more details, please contact the service

Pool of Life Dragon Boat Team

Charity dragon boating club providing support to people who have finished breast cancer treatment at least three months ago and their loved ones. It offers a place to meet others and share support, as well as train, race and build up strength. Dragon boating builds upper body strength and research shows it can improve lymphoedema associated with breast cancer.

Love Jasmine

Charity providing support to loved ones directly affected by the loss of a child. Services include one to one support, coffee groups, respite, counselling, in person and online support groups, and sibling support. It also offers complementary therapies such as reiki, aromatherapy and yoga.

Zoë’s Place

Children’s hospice providing end-of-life care to babies living with life-limiting conditions. It offers respite care, family support and bereavement support. Additionally, it provides therapies such as physiotherapy, art, play, music and animal assisted therapy.

Lyndale Cancer Support Centre

Charity supporting people living with cancer. It offers complementary therapies, craft workshops, relaxation sessions, chair yoga, occasional social events, and more. Drop in support is offered on Wednesday and Thursday, and phone support is available when the centre is not open. Contact for more information.

Liverpool Haematology Support Group

Support group for people living with a blood cancer and their loved ones and carers. It offers the chance to meet others with shared experiences. Normally meeting on the second Tuesday of every month (except August), 6pm to 8pm.

Sunflowers

Cancer support centre for people living with cancer and their loved ones. It offers counselling, complementary therapies, nutrition advice, art and craft therapies, exercise classes and social groups. Its support groups include a head and neck cancer support group (first Friday of the month, 1pm) and a weekly support group for women of colour.
