Cancer Support Services in Norwich | Spotlight

There are over 6,000 local and national support services listed across the UK on Cancer Care Map. Today we’re spotlighting some of the cancer support services available in and around Norwich.

 

 

It’s On The Ball

Charity for people living with and beyond testicular cancer. Supported by Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital’s oncology department, it offers online information, a ‘buddy’ system for those newly diagnosed, chemotherapy care packs and local health and wellbeing events.

Big C Centre Norwich

Cancer support centre away from a hospital environment, offering free emotional, practical, and social support to those affected by cancer. Services include scarf tying, complementary therapies, counselling, family support, relaxation groups, nutrition groups, and a range of support groups. The Norwich City centre provides face-to-face, phone, and online appointments.

Breast Cancer Now – Living with Secondary Breast Cancer Support Group 

Monthly group for people living with secondary breast cancer. Facilitated by a trained counsellor, it offers the chance to meet people who understand. Meeting in person on the second Friday of the month at 11am, with regular expert speakers. Contact for more information and register to attend.

LASAG – Mesothelioma & Asbestos Disease Support Group

Support group for people living with mesothelioma and other asbestos related conditions. Meet others with shared experiences and get emotional support and information including updates on trials. Run by Clinical Nurse Specialists and LASAG charity’s Client Support Advisor Gemma Smith, the Norwich and Norfolk group meets in person. Book a place to attend. See website for more information.

Star Throwers

Charity for people living with cancer and their carers. It offers information and support including cancer information sessions, complementary treatments and wellbeing support. Services may be via Zoom, telephone, email and in person appointments.

Caring Friends Mid-Norfolk

Charity providing support to people affected by cancer or those bereaved. It offers emotional and practical support including transport to medical appointments, social events, excursions, coffee mornings and bingo evenings. It also provides respite breaks, equipment for loan and complementary therapies. See website for more information, membership details and charges.

Dereham Cancer Care

Charity offering a range of drop in services at its centre supporting people whose lives have been affected by cancer. Services include coffee mornings, complementary therapies, crafts, benefits advice, practical information, emotional support, respite breaks and more. Open 10am to 2pm, weekdays except Wednesdays.

Shine Networks Norwich – Meet Up Group for Young Adults

Support group for young adults living with cancer in Norwich. It meets once a month, alternating between different activities, such as walks, meals out, and visiting cafes and pubs.
