Cancer Support Services in Southampton | Spotlight

There are over 6,000 local and national support services listed across the UK on Cancer Care Map. Today we’re spotlighting some of the cancer support services available in and around Southampton. 

 

 

Unpaid Carers Support Southampton

Charity for adult unpaid carers who look after loved ones with additional support needs. It offers free information, advice and support including signposting to support groups, local events and other support services.

HASAG Coffee Morning Southampton

Coffee morning providing information and advice for anyone living with an asbestos-related disease including their loved ones. The group is also an opportunity to meet and chat to others with shared experiences, and has a nurse specialist/ solicitors in attendance to offer support.

Heads 2gether Head and Neck Cancer Support Group 

Support group for people living with cancer of the mouth, nose, throat, ear, neck and face. It offers the chance to meet others with shared experiences.

Wessex Cancer Support – Waterside Centre

Cancer support centre for people living with cancer in the Wessex region including loved ones, carers and those bereaved. It offers free emotional support including a drop-in service, professional counselling, complementary therapies, activities, choirs and support groups.

Man Down – Totton

Peer support group for adult men living with mental health issues. Meet others with shared experiences, attend social events and activities that raise awareness and support men in working through their challenges.

Simon Says – Hampshire Child Bereavement Service

Charity providing support for children and young people who have been bereaved. The service offers information and advice, a phone support line, local support groups and opportunities to meet other families with similar experiences. It also hosts an annual residential weekend.

Cancer and Pisces Trust Fishing Group

Cancer charity for adults and teenagers living with or beyond cancer. It aims to offer support and friendship through the therapeutic activity of lake and river fishing. The only requirement for joining is having experienced cancer at any stage of your life. Become a member for free, or there are paid options.

Oakhaven Hospice Trust

Charity for people living with life-limiting conditions and their loved ones and carers. It offers specialist palliative and end of life care, providing support at home and in a hospice setting. It also runs peer support groups, wellbeing activities and courses, counselling, bereavement support and complementary therapies.
