Cancer Connections | An event by Hastings Voluntary Action in partnership with Macmillan

22 May 2026 — lia-rogers

Cancer Connections is an event by Hastings Voluntary Action in partnership with Macmillan, raising awareness and uptake of local cancer services.

“We recruit and train Cancer Champions (volunteers from the community) to help us reach wider and deeper into local communities. Cancer Champions are willing to have conversations about cancer, well-being, and mental health, and tell others about support services available in Hastings.”

On 10th June 2026, Hastings Cancer Support Champions are bringing voluntary organisations, primary and secondary care and the wider public together to raise awareness about the support available locally. The event aims to tackle poor uptake of screening programmes, demystify the process, and hear directly from patients and service providers. There will be guest speakers and stall holders – including Cancer Care Map’s Robin Pritchard, who is a Hasting local himself.

What to expect…

  • Hear from leading specialists around nutrition, medicine and lifestyle, the latest clinical research, try out some complementary therapies
  • Discover screening services and discuss the future of cancer care.
  • Hear from Cancer Support Champions about the work they are involved with
  • Discover resources for employees and employers
  • Take home a brochure with the agenda programme and contact details
  • Refreshments and lunch provided

This event is for the community as well as for healthcare professionals. Check out the poster below for more information and to reserve your free place.

“We aim to understand what prevents people from accessing services and enable everyone to be proactive in identifying potential symptoms, attending screenings, and being aware of the support available locally.”
