There are over 6,000 local and national support services listed across the UK on Cancer Care Map. Today we’re spotlighting some of the cancer support services available in and around Birmingham.

Chai Cancer Care – Charity for people of the Jewish community living with cancer and their loved ones and carers. The Birmingham centre offers a support group, advisory services, complementary therapies, counselling, group activities, home support, and physiotherapy
Birmingham Black Carers Support Group – Peer support group for unpaid carers from African Caribbean backgrounds. It aims to offer information, advice, practical and emotional support, and the chance to socialise and meet others with shared experiences.
Nishkam Community Cancer Care Connector’s Project – Specialist support service for anyone affected by cancer including loved ones and carers. Macmillan Cancer Support are working together with Nishkam Civic Association and four other partners to offer culturally appropriate knowledge, focusing on cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and supporting marginalised communities in overcoming barriers to support.
Carers Project at Birmingham Buddhist Centre – Project for people who care on an unpaid basis for a friend or loved one living in Birmingham. It offers carer breaks, group activities such as tai chi and yoga, a peer carer support group, peer mentoring, and also teaches relaxation techniques and approaches to lower stress.
Shine Networks, West Midlands Meet Up Group for Young Adults – Support group for young adults in the West Midlands living with cancer. It meets for coffee and cake in the morning and for evening drinks at bars in central Birmingham. The charity also provides advice on relationships, work, travel insurance, menopause, mental health, fertility and parenting through cancer.
