Cancer Services in Cornwall | Spotlight

There are over 6,000 local and national support services listed across the UK on Cancer Care Map. Today we’re spotlighting some of the cancer support services available in and around Cornwall.

 

 

Cornwall Cancer Cafe Podcast

Weekly podcast which aims to offer understanding, companionship, and hope. Its hosts Matthi Clarke and Emma Coombe are not medically or counselling trained but have real lived experience of cancer, and most podcast episodes feature people with lived experience.

Community Cancer Cafès CIC 

Peer support groups for adults living with cancer including loved ones, carers, and anyone bereaved due to cancer, offering information and emotional support in Bodmin, St Austell, Lostwithiel, St Dennis, and Wadebridge.

Man Down

Peer support groups for adult men living with mental health issues. There are over 40 across Cornwall. Meet others with shared experiences, and attend social events and activities that raise awareness and support men in working through their challenges.

Tanya’s Courage Trust 

Charity for young people aged 16 to 25 living with cancer. Grants are provided which can be used towards relieving their physical or financial needs such as travel and/or accommodation costs, entertainment and keeping in touch devices or special days out with family.

Coast Path Connectors

(Macmillan Cancer Support in partnership with South West Coast Path Association (SWCPA) – Social walking group for people living with and beyond cancer including loved ones and carers. Walks are short and free to join, following the coast path around Cornwall. They offer the chance to meet others with shared experiences, and are held on the first Wednesday of the month at different locations. They can include a contribution towards travel expenses and refreshments.
