Cancer Support Services in Derry | Spotlight

There are over 6,000 local and national support services listed across the UK on Cancer Care Map. Today we’re spotlighting some of the cancer support services available in and around Derry.

Charis Cancer Care

Cancer support centre for adults affected by cancer at every stage of their journey, including families and loved ones. Services include free bereavement counselling, nutrition workshops, holistic and complementary therapies and financial and benefits advice.

Northern Irish Cancer Care – Transport Service

Charity providing a transportation service around Northern Ireland for people affected by cancer. Its service helps get people to and from hospital appointments, as well as loved ones and carers travelling with them. Booking is essential as spaces are limited.

Derry Well Women Centre

Women’s health and wellbeing centre providing services covering areas as diverse as managing chronic conditions like cancer, and mental health challenges, through to parenting, breastfeeding support, miscarriage and menopause. Services include counselling, one to one clinics, support groups and a one day complementary therapy programme. In addition, it offers The Well Programme which is a 10 week 36 hour mental health and wellbeing programme.

Foyle Hospice

Hospice providing specialist palliative and end of life care for people with life-limiting conditions and their loved ones and carers. It offers support at home, at the hospice day clinic or as an inpatient, including symptom management, therapies, spiritual care and bereavement support. Referrals via health professionals or self-refer for bereavement support.

Care for Cancer

Charity providing support to anyone affected by cancer. It offers cancer information, complementary therapy, support groups, transport to hospital appointments, yoga, art therapy, bra fitting services, travel insurance, aromatherapy and more.
